Brooklyn, New York-based songwriter/producer/lyricist, Blackostume, has been described by fans and fellow rappers as a "Black Larry David," as his genre-bending work grabs attention through narrative and humor, keeping listeners engaged in his experimental dissonance and smart atonality that intersect with thick, mid-tone punchy kick-drums, snappy snares and funk-leaning baselines influenced by his Southern hip-hop roots.
Self-taught since 2009 in North Carolina, Blackostume’s first LP was Period 2 in 2012. He relocated to New York in 2015, joining a community of creatives and working from his studio in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn to dive deeper into his practice. Blackostume has created a body of work that shines as a solo rap and pop artist project, and a portfolio for potential collaborators. His work offers contagious beats and hooks with an unexpected quality that only he can deliver.
With several live performances under his belt Blackostume has shared the stage with rock bands and opened for hip-hop legends like Kool Keith. He is one of the founding members of the SAVR creative collective.
